Muppet Babies Brainstorm
After STAG Comedy’s last live show in 2015, friendly comedian Carlos LaRotta said he was itching for a vid to direct. I threw him some old scripts and he picked out Muppet Babies Brainstorm. I actually filmed an earlier version of MBB for my first STAG Comedy show back in 2009, but was never satisfied with finished product. So Carlos and I re-wrote it and then 4 years later actually made it, and here it is!
Stay tuned through the credits, there’s a joke at the end, but also because the credits have the names of a lot of very cool and talented people that lent their time and energy to making a very dumb thing. And I think that (dramatic pause) is beautiful.
Ximena’s Post-Surgery Sketch Idea
Late last year my wife got her wisdom teeth removed. After the operation, I was talking to her in the recovery room and thought to myself, “maybe I should record this.” Here ya go:
Austin Sketch Fest Begins!
One of my favorite weeks of the year is upon us, the Austin Sketch Comedy Festival. I’m one of the producers of Austin Sketch Fest so I will come very close to dying of exhaustion this week but I will love every moment of it.
I’m performing three times during the Festival. I’m hosting The Show of One-Person Shows. STAG Comedy will be debuting our new show Sex Week, and I’ll be teaming with Master Pancake Theater to mock an episode of Law & Order SVU. There’s so much comedy gold on the schedule, so check it out and go see something, eh?
I’m Not a Computer
Here’s a video from STAG Comedy that I produced. Which means I bought water and snacks and then every 15 minutes was like you good on snacks? How about water? Dave – you good? Andrew? Okay, just checking.
I’m Not a Computer! was written by David Jara & Andrew Rosas, directed by Dave Youmans, and stars Mary Jo Pehl (of MST3K).
New STAG Comedy Videos
For some reason my very wonderful sketch comedy group, STAG Comedy has a bunch of unreleased videos. We’re usually in a rush to shoot them for various live shows and afterward they stay on our hard drives. Well, now we’re making a push to get the old ones online, as well as throwing a couple freshly-made ones into the mix. Little Greggorio kicked things off last week and this week you get Just the Death Scenes, written and directed by Dave Youmans, and featuring me in a wig I bought and still own.
The Next 5 Days
I have a fun chunk of performances coming up, details of which are on the Upcoming shows page. I’ll be playing a park ranger tonight on Bob Khosravi’s The Mission. Friday it’s two shows of Space Jam with Master Pancake Theater. I’m only doing Friday’s shows because Saturday it’s off to Houston with STAG for Below the Law – which is such a fun show. Sunday back in Austin for a benefit show to help Kanya Lyons. Then Monday, it’s possibly Jazz Cigarette’s biggest show yet with a full set from David Huntsberger.
Maybe I’ll see you at one’em, eh?
