Live at ColdTowne EP out May 11th
Last September, I drove from Austin to New Orleans by myself. I was feeling some serious stand-up inertia at the time. At some point during the eight hour drive I decided to record an EP. A smaller project than a full album, but one that could get some more material out there and get me working toward something.
ColdTowne Theater is a comedy venue that’s extremely important to me (and a whole bunch of other people). It’s a comedy clubhouse, a place to experiment, run by and filled with people who love comedy.
Carina Magyar and Sam Harter gave me the greenlight to record at their weekly stand-up showcase, the long-running Live at ColdTowne. Sam & Tai Nguyen would host. I asked Kerri Lendo and Aaron Brooks to fill out the line-up. Dustin Svelhak was down to record it.
I was thinking of self-releasing it, but Sure Thing Records honchos Brendan K. O’Grady and Duncan Carson were their usual supportive selves, and offered to plug it into their release schedule.
So now I have an EP. You can pre-order it or here on Bandcamp. It’s about 30 minutes of stand-up and surprises. The recording begins about 30 seconds after Brendan had to toss out some loud drunks. That’s live comedy for you.
